University of Mobile Upper Room Theatre Presents ‘Godspell’

The Upper Room Theater at the University of Mobile will present the musical “Godspell” at Saraland Center for Performing Arts at Saraland High School on March 1-2 at 7 p.m. and March 3 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 for the general public and $10 for students, and can be purchased at the door.Directed by Bruce Earnest, assistant dean of the UMobile School of Worship Leadership and  Center for Performing Arts/ School of Music,“Godspell” is a musical by Stephen Schwartz and is based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew. The musical will feature the talent of many CPA students, including Steven Dawson, senior musical theater major from Mobile, as Jesus, and Collin Clardy, freshman worship leadership major from Thomasville, AL, as John the Baptist and Judas. The role of Joanne will be played by Addie Garner, junior musical theater major from Opelika, AL, who was the 2012 Miss UM.

Including hit songs “Day by Day,” “Prepare Ye the Day of the Lord,” and “By My Side,” this musical reflects on the life of Jesus, with a message of kindness, tolerance, and love.
